To learn more about what FEMA does visit http://www.fema.gov/about/index.shtm#0 How You Can Lead the Way The incumbent of this position serves as the Deputy Associate Administrator Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration-Mitigation, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with responsibility for participating in the development, management, direction and evaluation of Mitigation programs and activities. FIMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program, oversees FEMA's mitigation programs and environmental and historic compliance within FEMA. The incumbent p rovides executive leadership, oversight and supervision for the development and administration of regulations, policies and procedures for all programs in FIMA related to mitigating risk from all hazards, and for environmental and historic preservation compliance within FEMA. The mitigation programs include Floodplain Mapping, Floodplain Management, Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants, Building Sciences, Mitigation Planning, National Dam Safety Program, the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program, and hazardous risk assessment methodologies. The incumbent must effectively partner and communicate at the federal, state, tribal, local and individual levels to successfully deliver programs during steady state and post disaster. The incumbent assists and acts for the Associate Administrator on FIMA matters and is an advisor to the Administrator on the appropriate methods for accomplishing policy objectives and FIMA priorities.
