About the Position: ARMY RECENT GRADUATES PROGRAM: The Army Recent Graduates Program provides individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs with developmental experience in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service. Participants must have obtained a degree, or completed a qualifying career or technical education program within the preceding 2 years. Eligible veterans; however, can apply up to six years after completing a qualifying degree or certificate program. You will participate in a formal post graduate work-study program. The training program is structured specifically for graduates of technical, vocational, or trades schools and is designed to provide exposure to essentially all aspects of work performed at a hydroelectric power station. Work assignments are made in accordance with a specific training plan that is designed to integrate formal schooling with practical on-the-job experience. Work performed and observed includes operation and maintenance of machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical, electrical and electronic principles. Inspect or diagnose production machinery and equipment in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. Perform millwright functions in setting up; aligning; balancing; and testing various machinery and equipment, such as turbines; pumps; shafts; bearings; gear boxes; and valves, metalworking machinery and tools, such as lathe, drill press, and grinder to make and repair parts. Electrical troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, modification and repair of electrical equipment including breakers, generators, regulators, governors, and other auxiliary equipment associated with a generation facility.Work is performed under very close supervision.
