Job Summary:
As Assistant General Counsel for Regulation and Enforcement, you will be the principal attorney for domestic and international regulatory and enforcement activities of the Department of Transportation, one of the largest Federal regulatory agencies. You will work on challenging and rewarding issues such as safety requirements for unmanned aircraft and driverless cars, environmental impacts of federally-funded transportation projects, training requirements for commercial truck drivers, motor vehicle fuel economy, and consumer protection. You will provide legal and policy advice to our highest officials. When appropriate, we will expect your recommendations to include innovative approaches to substantive and procedural problems. Finally, you will represent the Department in conferences with Congressional members and staff, other departments and agencies of Federal, state, local, tribal, and foreign governments, international organizations, and public groups.
