Job Summary:
This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), a small elite group of senior government leaders who possess a diverse portfolio of experience and the strong skills required to lead across organizations. This dedicated corps of executives is charged with providing strategic leadership and upholding a commitment to public service that transcends loyalty to a specific agency mission or individual profession. As an SES member you will influence the direction of innovation and transformation of the federal government and lead the next generation of public servants. The incumbent of this position serves as the Budget Officer for the CDC and Director for the Office of Budget in the Financial Management Office, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of the Chief Operating Officer (OCOO), CDC, Atlanta, Georgia. The incumbent reports to the Director, OCFO, a Senior Executive Service (SES) position. This position provides ongoing CDC-wide expert budget, finance, travel expertise, and management guidance to the CDC Chief Operating Officer (COO). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an operating division of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is the nation's premier health promotion, prevention, and preparedness agency and a global leader in public health. It remains at the forefront of public health efforts to prevent and control infectious and chronic diseases, injuries, workplace hazards, disabilities, and environmental health threats. CDC works with states and other partners to provide a system of health surveillance to monitor and prevent disease outbreaks (including bioterrorism), implement disease prevention strategies, and maintain national health statistics. CDC also guards against international disease transmission, with personnel stationed in more than 50 foreign countries. CDC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
