Job Summary:

This position is located in the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Division of Privacy and Identity Protection. The FTC is increasingly engaged in multiple investigations that concern information collection, sharing, and management practices of Internet-based companies. The employee will provide technical expertise in computer science in support of these investigations. In addition, the employee will provide technical expertise in support of FTC policy development, consumer and business education development, and other programs. The primary requirements of the work are professional competence in understanding the theoretical foundations of computer science in a business context, including information flows on networks, specifically the Internet, computer system architecture and system software organization. A comprehensive understanding of the web, web browsers, network technology, and privacy and security concerns on the Internet and other computer networks relating both to end users and IT professionals is necessary.
