The primary purpose of the position is to perform moderately heavy physical labor requiring the use of common hand tools and power equipment involving any or all of the following duties.. Rock Creek Park is truly a gem in our nation's capital. It offers visitors an opportunity to reflect and soothe their spirits through the beauty of nature. Fresh air, majestic trees, wild animals, and the ebb and flow of Rock Creek emanate the delicate aura of the forest. Our country's history abounds within the park. Visitors walk in the footsteps of Piscataway Indians, the Old Stone House attests to a time when Washington, D.C. was in its youth. Work requires operating heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, portable snow blowers, and all types of hand tools (such as shovels, rakes, lawn edging equipment, etc.). Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may be subject to varied climatic conditions. Duties are performed around moving machinery. Incumbent must be alert at all time to existing hazards and potentially hazardous conditions. This position requires that incumbent work on weekends, holidays and evenings. May be considered essential personnel and required to stay or return to work for emergency situations, including but not limited to inclement weather or mechanical problems.
