Job Summary:

About the Position: This is an internship position under the Pathways Internship Program as a Student Trainee (Environmental Resources) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, Operations Division, Regulatory Office with duty location in Eugene, Oregon. The Corps of Engineers, while a component of the U.S. Army, is mostly a civilian organization. The Corps works to reduce flood damage in communities across America; improve the environment for fish and wildlife and generate clean, renewable electricity, and recreational opportunities. The Portland District staff oversees the operation and maintenance of 19 multipurpose dams in Oregon and a sediment retention structure in southwestern Washington. We also maintain more than 720 miles of federal navigation channels and 33 channel and harbor projects through the use of two governmentowned hopper dredges and three hydrographic survey vessels. About the Pathways Internship Program: The purpose of the Pathways Internship Program is to provide the intern with exposure to public service, enhance educational experience, and support educational goals. The program is formally structured to give interns the opportunity to work in positions related to their academic/career goals. Participant completes assigned duties, tasks, readings, and developmental activities specified in the program. A written agreement is required between the US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District and the intern. Interns will be expected to work at least a Part-Time work schedule while attending school. NOTE: You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. Who May Apply: All U.S. Citizens and permanent residents pursuing a degree in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis in environmental resources or other related disciplines appropriate to the position. You will be required to provide documentation to support your eligibility.
