Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented attorney to practice appropriations law in the Management and Administrative Legal Services Division (MALS), Office of the Solicitor. The person selected will be part of a team of attorneys advising high level officials in the Department of Labor and its component agencies on Federal appropriations law, budget, financial management, and intellectual property issues. The job includes advising on sensitive and complex appropriations and organizational authority issues. While the selectees work will focus primarily on legal issues presented to the Appropriations Law Counsel area, there may be instances where the selectee will work on assignments in the Procurement and Contracts Counsel area. The mission of the Office of the Solicitor is to meet the legal service demands of the entire Department of Labor and help ensure that the Nation's labor laws are forcefully and fairly applied to protect the Nation's workers. The Management and Administrative Legal Services Division provides the Department of Labor with legal advice and litigation services relating to a variety of governmental and management legal issues, such as appropriations, procurement, labor relations and information law issues, and also serves as the administrative arm of the Office of the Solicitor.
