Job Summary:
The incumbent of this position serves as the Associate General Counsel for the General Law Division of the Office of the General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The General Counsel, who is appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate, is the Department's chief legal advisor and principal legal advisor to the Secretary of Homeland Security and, as such, has final authority and responsibility for legal policy determinations within the Department and its components. The General Law Division within OGC is responsible for providing legal advice to the Department relating to: (1) acquisitions and procurement law; (2) labor and employment law; (3) appropriations and fiscal law, including grant programs and the Department's budget process; (4) administrative law; and (5) the activities of the Board for Correction of Military Records of the Coast Guard.
