WHAT DOES AN IRS INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER ADVISORY SPECIALIST DO? Individual Taxpayer Advisory Specialists assist customers to resolve tax issues in person. They promote voluntary compliance by answering tax law questions, assisting with tax preparation, reviewing notices with customers, and taking payments. WHAT IS THE WAGE AND INVESTMENT DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W & I) serves about 122 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Key W & I objectives are to provide high-quality taxpayer assistance, and to enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns, make payments and receive assistance. W & I partners with private organizations to provide assistance to such disadvantaged groups as elderly and low-income taxpayers. Please note: This announcement may close prior to 12/02/2013 if it is determined that there is a sufficient applicant pool to fill the vacancies. This announcement is being used to create an inventory of qualified applicants for Individual Taxpayer Advisory Specialist positions in Wage and Investment, Field Assistance, Area Five and will be used to fill immediate and future vacancies. The following cut-off dates have been identified for the order of consideration: 03/04/2013, 06/03/2013, 09/03/1203. Qualified applicants will be considered as vacancies become available based on cut-off dates and date of application. Eligible CP and CPS compensable disabled veterans will be considered with the first group of certified eligibles referred after applications are received.
